Several of our quartets attended the Region 23 Workshop last November and had a great opportunity to work with regional coaches, mix and mingle with other quartets, and cheered one another on at the show on Saturday evening! A good time was had by all. The holidays have once again come and gone and we enjoyed holiday performances for 11 Alive's Holiday Can-a-thon and the Big Chicken Chorus show! Of course, the holidays wouldn't be the same without SOA's traditional holiday party, where there was plenty of food and festivities, as usual, and we were even treated to a performance by Cashmere Quartet. Our heads are gleefully full from incredible coaching from Sharon Babb and Sandy Marron in December and January! Tuesday, January 31st, was our "Global Open House" event! Throughout the month of January 2012, choruses, quartets and regions open their doors to women across the globe. The members of Sweet Adelines International are an amazing group of real women, singing real harmony and having real fun today! Radiate your passion for singing and become part of something extraordinary. It was awesome to welcome so many guests and see some familiar and new faces! Guests were treated to a performance of several songs by the chorus as well as a song by our Young Women in Harmony quartet, Ballistic, as well as Cashmere Quartet. real women. real harmony. real fun.
We will hold our annual Young Women in Harmony “Diva Day” Music Festival on Saturday, February 4, 2012. This Festival will teach the skills and share the joy and rewards of performing and singing four-part harmony, barbershop style. We would like to cordially invite all metro Atlanta high school "Divas" to our annual Diva Day Festival! Our guest clinician is the amazing lead of the 2009 Queens of Harmony Moxie Ladies, Jennifer Perry! Song of Atlanta will be sending quartets all over the metro Atlanta area on Valentine's Day! We will also be offering our popular Singing Valentines by phone!
FRATERNAL ORDER Of EAGLES USO SHOW Location: Doraville, GA Show: 7:00 pm We'll be singing for "evaluation" & cheering on all other competing choruses. Singing for evaluation means that we'll perform as if we are competing, but will only give given a level score (to let us know how we're doing on our road to Denver) and not a placement. We are not eligible to compete this year because we are the "reigning champions" from 2011 and will be representing our region in Denver this fall! We'll also be cheering on 3 of our awesome quartets and some that have "dual" members (singing both with our chorus and another, usually in another state). Regional competition weekend is one of the biggest highlights of our year and we always come away from the event feeling completely saturday in barbershop joy!
