The phrase "This is not your father's quartet" does not apply to Boardwalk. Coming from a long lineage of 2nd generation influences, their dads had a heavy influence on, not only their singing in general, but specifically forming this quartet. Boardwalk combines great barbershop harmonies, some instrumentation, and folk music to create a unique and entertaining fusion they call barber-folk. Their inspiration is the music and fashion of the 1920's. Boardwalk draws from many musical genres and has been inspired by the Kingston Trio, Johnny Cash, Harry Belafonte, Hank Snow, the Midnight Oilers, Mid States Four, the Suntones, the Smothers Brothers, the Ink Spots, and many more.

Brad Hine, Tenor, works for ETI Software Solutions, in Atlanta, GA. There he manages software development teams to support telecommunications companies to better manage their sales and operations. He is an alumnus of the University of Georgia where he started as a classical guitar major and finished with a political science degree. He has sung in many quartets at the international level and has never met a string instrument he didn't like. Brad, his wife Georgia and son Kelso, live in Alpharetta, GA.

Mark Schlinkert, Lead, grew up around barbershop music with a huge influence from his parents. He recalls the sounds of his father's quartets singing him to sleep at night. Mark's father, Tom, was a founding member of The Roaring 20s from the Cincinnati area. Mark’s mother, Marianne, was a Sweet Adeline for many years. As you can imagine, Mark's vocal training began quite early. At 16, he began singing in the Barbershop Harmony Society. He has held a variety of leadership positions within several barbershop chapters and at the district level. He and his wife Kristin live in Atlanta, GA and are empty nesters. They have three adult children. Mark works as a Senior Operations Manager for Mac Papers, a distributor of printing papers and packaging.

Mike Slamka, Baritone is a 43-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, joining the Grosse Pointe, Michigan chapter at the age of 10. He is a third-generation barbershopper, following in the footsteps of his grandfather (John) and father (Jack). Mike has won the International Quartet Championship twice, first with Power Play in 2003, then with Crossroads in 2009. He also has a chorus gold medal with the Ambassadors of Harmony in 2012. Mike has directed many choruses, both BHS and Sweet Adelines, and is also an accomplished coach, having worked with several medalist and International Championship quartets and choruses. Mike has served as a faculty member at countless district HEP schools and at Harmony University, and has taught barbershop in England, Holland, Germany, and Australia. Mike and his wife, Traci, have been married for 32 years and have three daughters, Michaela, Mackenzi, and Madison. When Mike is not barbershopping, he works as a Product Sales Specialist for Cisco Systems, Inc.

Jared Carlson, Bass, in his former life, he was the tenor singer in a little-known quartet named Fred. There is some dispute as to why he is no longer singing with Fred, and more speculation as to why he has switched to bass, but many believe that it is based around the fact that he has entered the witness protection program. When not on stage with Boardwalk, Jared has been seen donning a jet-black wig and a long grey beard. Although he claims to have a lovely wife (Anna) and daughter (Caroline)…. very few people have actually seen him in public with these people.
